We are scheduled to get our immunizations for Russia next week. The CDC doesn’t require any immunizations however, it does recommend them. We’re going to heed their recommendation just in case… you never know.
Our IA Doc recommends us to have our Hepatitis A/B (a combined shot), Tetanus (if you have not had one in the last 10 years), and update our MMR (measles, mumps, rubella). I’m so accident-prone, I’ll probably get over there and step on a nail or something and end up in the hospital – oh that would not be fun. We’re getting the shots!
Have you other PAP’s gotten yours or will you?

I had to get my tetanus at my medical exam for our dossier thanks to my husband who announced to the Dr. it had been 10 years!! I plan to get the Hep. A/B shot and need to call about that soon I suppose. Troy may have to get the chicken pox vaccine as he has never had them. We need to get moving on those. I didn't know about the MMR. I had that again before college so with 2 I think I'll skip that one!! Good luck with yours - I hate shots!!
Ughh... shots, lovely shots! I've called about them and know what I need to do but can't get myself to actually schedule that appointment! :-) I need tetanus, HepA/B and chicken pox. Did they tell you that one of the Heps is a 3 shot series?? That sounds like fun! Thanks for the reminder to do this - I really need to get on the ball.
We've both gotten a couple but I'm sure when we are actually closer to traveling we'll get more. We'll be at the doctor so much (for the updated medicals) might as well throw in some shots.
Hi Jane-I just found your blog! I'm adding it to "my favorites" right now so I can follow your journey. We just got our tetanus shots updated 3 years ago, and we're going Monday to get Hep A and B. I did not check on MMR...hmmm...I did have a massive breakout of the chicken pox when I was 6 and my family was in Washington DC on vacation-I had bandaids all over me! :) I guess I won't need that one!
Hello! We are with the same agency as you and also from Texas. I will be adding your blog to our favorites as well.
As far as the shots go. We both have had the Hep. B series of shots and tetanus for work. I'm not sure if we will do the others or not.
We did all the recommended shots. Our poor kids had to have all their shots redone when they got here - 5 shots for one child, and 6 for the other.
I did. My husband didn't. We were both immunized up the wazoo anyway, though, because we do volunteer work in the Brazilian Amazon. For Russia, I updated what needed updating and got an early flu shot. Now that we're back, it occurs to me that I might get a TB test--but now, with the two little ones underfoot, I don't think I'll get to it soon. :-)
