Staying in Bed

Time for some good news about the Coopster:
For just about 2 weeks now (and my 9000 talks with him) he has stayed in bed every single night. I knew he could do it. I knew he had the capabilities because he'd done it before. I understand that he had been in a group with 8 other children, but I also knew that he was ready to take on the 'big boy' job of using his self-control and staying in bed all night.
Now, as soon as he wakes up, he declares, "Cooper stay in bed!".
We're soooo proud (and getting much more sleep!).

We've made a little compromise on whether I should lie down next to him until he falls asleep though... Now, at bedtime, we read a few books then I say, ok time to sleep. He gets comfy and I read Dr. Seuss' One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish book and since it's kind of long, he falls asleep during the book. We have been ending the night on that note for about a week now and it works out great.

Kara is having a hard time listening to her teacher in school so she was in the "thinking chair" 3 times last week. They say she likes to run away from the class when they're out for their walk. All the other children are holding on to the rings and Kara runs away laughing.
Hopefully this week will be better.

Otherwise, she's cute as a bug and knows it.

See?

Hi Jane its been forever my heart melted the moment your pictures popped up!! I am so happy to see those beautiful lil faces. Motherhood is a great look for you! We have changed our direction still adopting but domestically now. CHI just was not doing what we wanted and had way to many changes. I have updated what 2008 was filled with and what 2009 now holds. I have missed blogging and am so happy to be back at it!! Hope to chat soon!!

Jane - You are doing an amazing job!! You are dead on - consistency is key! So many times with andrew I would say "if you don't XYZ then we're not going to the X place." but bottom line was I wanted to get out of the house and so we went anyway. Well, did he EVER learn my number! Since I've become a harda$$ and have followed through, I have a much more obedient child and I'm a much happier mom. Kara is cute as a button and that smile must just eat you up! I hope work is going well and you are adjusting to your new daily routine!

They are both so cute! That's great that Cooper is staying in his bed and so funny that he is telling himself to do it! And Kara is adorable! I'm sure she is trying to discover so many things in her new world right now. I'm glad things are going well!
